Why is grub prevention so important?

You may have never had a grub worm problem in the past, and there is no guarantee you will ever have one in the future even without a preventative application. So why go through the hassle and spend the money on something that may not be necessary?

The answer has to do with the nature of grub worm damage. First, they destroy the root system of your turf. With no root system, your lawn has to be replaced. There is no babying it get back, there is no recovering from that, it has to be completely replaced. Think of it as a house, structural damage to your house can be fixed, repaired and rebuilt. However, if the foundation of the house is destroyed, the house will come crumbling down and will need to be rebuilt from the ground up. That is exactly what grub worms are doing, they are destroying the foundation of your lawn.

Secondly, in most cases, by the time you see signs of grub damage it is already too late. Grub worms can destroy a root system very quickly, and it will often be days before you see signs of damage. Your lawn can be perfectly green and lush, and at the same time have a root system that has been demolished by grub worms. By the time you notice, it is too late, the damage has already been done.

So really the preventative is an insurance policy for your lawn. It's the only way to make sure you won't have to deal with replacing part of (or all of) your lawn due to grub damage come fall.

The timeframe is down to about a month now, so don’t put it off!
