Trying to get rid of fire ants and they keep coming back? Lauren explains why store-bought fire ant killers fall short and what professional fire ant treatment does differently.
If you live in Texas, fire ants are just part of life. But a lot of homeowners in Prosper, Mansfield, and across North Texas are handling them the wrong way and wondering why the problem keeps coming back. We asked Lauren to break down the most common mistake and what Vista Lawn and Pest does differently.
The most common mistake homeowners make is heading to the hardware store, grabbing a product off the shelf, and treating individual mounds. It feels like the right move, but it is only addressing what you can see. Treating mounds one at a time does not get to the source of the problem, and new mounds keep popping up because the colony itself is never fully treated. The problem just keeps coming back.
Our technicians use commercial grade fire ant products that require a license to purchase. These are not available on any store shelf, and there is a reason for that. Instead of treating individual mounds, we broadcast the product across your entire lawn. This approach treats the problem at the source and allows the product to transfer through the colony, taking care of the whole lawn rather than just the visible mounds.
After the application, all you need to do is water it in. We leave instructions after every visit so you always know exactly what to do next.
Vista Lawn and Pest offers two ways to handle fire ants depending on what works best for your property.
The first is our Top Choice Fire Ant Package, which is a dedicated fire ant service that provides coverage for an entire year. If any mounds pop up between visits, we can come back out and treat them individually at no additional charge.
The second option is our Turf Guard package, which includes the Top Choice fire ant treatment along with coverage for other pests as well. It is a great option for homeowners who want broader protection across their yard.
If you are dealing with fire ants and tired of fighting a losing battle with store products, give us a call and we will walk you through which option makes the most sense for your lawn.
