This has been the wettest week we have had in a long time. That plus the temperatures rising into the upper 60s…and even 70s…mean that weeds are about to pop. Over the next few weeks, weeds will be exploding with growth, and it may seem like they have completely overtaken your lawn. You may think you have missed your window of opportunity for having a weed free lawn this year…but don’t give up just yet. That window of opportunity is actually still open.
What you have to realize is that all the weeds you are seeing now, and will be seeing over the next few weeks, germinated back in January or even December. They have been slowly growing in your lawn this whole time, and now have the perfect environment to bulk up fast!
Everything you see right now is prevented with the fall pre emergent that needs to be put down in Sept/Oct. Unfortunately if you missed the fall pre emergent, you are going to have to battle some weeds early on in the spring. But you can still get ahead in the game…
The Spring pre emergent is to prevent the later spring wings, and even the summer weeds from coming up. So if you don’t like what you are seeing right now, get your spring pre emergent put down so that you don’t have this same problem later this year!
The clock is ticking, it really will only be a matter of weeks before it is too late.
Get your pre emergent put down ASAP!
