Right now is a great time to make sure your flowerbeds have a good, thick layer of mulch in them!
Most people mulch in the spring, and that is great as long as you get a good thick layer down that will last throughout the summer. If your spring mulching was skipped, put down thin, or maybe you’ve had some washout, then you really need to add some mulch right now.
Mulch acts as an insulator for the soil in your flowerbeds and around your trees. With a good, thick layer of mulch, your soil temperatures will be lower which will minimize heat stress for your plants and trees.
Mulch also helps retain MUCH needed moister. It’s going to be very dry the next couple of weeks, so give your plants a hand and mulch your beds! Every bit of moisture counts!
