Nutsedge is coming up EVERYWHERE right now.
If you have a lot of nutsedge coming up, you're not alone. If you don't have any...you probably will soon.
Typically nutsedge is a sign of poor drainage or a watering issue, but that is not the case right now. You haven't done anything wrong, there is no preventing it, it is just a result of all the rain we've had this spring.
Nutsedge thrives in wet conditions, and this has been one of the wettest springs we've had in a while.
Selective herbicides are the only way to deal with it (don't even try to pull it by hand!).
It HAS to be an herbicide labeled for nutsedge. Any old broadleaf/grassy herbicide will not work, it has to be labeled for nutsedge.
Certainty is the product we use but there are plenty of options out there. Ask your local garden center, they will point you in the right direction!
