This is prime time for drought and heat damage in lawns. You should do your best to get your watering right year round, but right now is when you better make sure you are getting it right.
The biggest mistake that people make is not watering enough per watering.
We hear it all of the time..."I definitely don't have a watering issue, I'm watering every single day...".
The number of times per week you water means NOTHING if your lawn isn't getting enough water with each individual watering.
Your lawn needs deep waterings. The water needs to soak deep into the soil and needs to reach the deapest parts of the lawns root system. To accomplish this, your lawn needs about a half inch of water with each watering.
"But watering my lawn a half inch every day is going to cost me a fortune!.."
Yes that would cost a fortune...but when your lawn gets a half inch of water per watering, you don't have to water ever day.
In order to thrive throughout the summer, your lawn needs 1.5 to 2 inches of water per week at .5 inches per watering. So when you are watering the right amount, you only need to water 3-4 times per week.
Get it right!
