Yes and no. It is very hard to prevent them long-term on a year-to-year basis because the timeframe in which they emerge can vary drastically. You have to wait for them to emerge to effectively treat them.
However, if you put down a bifenthrin product, you will have at least a 2-3 week residual, which is well past the armyworm lifespan. So if you DON'T have armyworms now, you CAN put down a bifenthrin application and that will keep them from invading your lawn.
